Ms. Shweta Sharma

I am a government school educator from Jharkhand with more than two decades of experience in classroom teaching, Foundational Literacy and Numeracy, educational technology, teacher development, content creation and school level academic support. Over the years, my work has gradually expanded from classroom teaching to teacher capacity building while remaining closely connected with the realities of government schools.

My professional journey has been recognised through the National ICT Award for Teachers 2019 and the National Teachers Award 2025 conferred by the Honble President of India Smt Droupadi Murmu. These recognitions are important milestones, but more importantly they provide an opportunity to use my experience for supporting teachers and improving classroom practices.

A major area of my work is Foundational Literacy and Numeracy. My classroom experience and involvement in teacher development have helped me work closely with oral language development, phonological awareness, early reading and writing, vocabulary development, comprehension and activity based numeracy.

This work is aligned with the vision of the National Education Policy 2020, NIPUN Bharat and the National Curriculum Framework for the Foundational Stage 2022.

In teacher capacity building programmes, my focus is on helping teachers understand how FLN competencies can be translated into everyday classroom practices. Training becomes more meaningful when teachers are able to observe activities, practise them, discuss their purpose and adapt them according to their own learners and school context.

Early literacy is an important area where my experience can be used for teacher support. Teachers can be guided to understand the progression from oral language to reading and writing, the importance of sound awareness, shared and guided reading, vocabulary development and meaningful opportunities for children to write.

The focus is on helping teachers move beyond excessive copying and rote learning towards structured, engaging and developmentally appropriate literacy practices.
