Mr. Rajesh Bordoloi
Assistant Teacher at Adarsha Tribal HS school,
Assam (Jorhat)
National Teacher Awardee (2026)
I am Rajesh Bordoloi, an Assistant Teacher at Adarsha Tribal Higher Secondary School, Jorhat, Assam. With a postgraduate degree in Geography and a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.), I have been dedicated to teaching and educational development since 2002. My professional journey is driven by the belief that education must be inclusive, innovative, culturally responsive, and accessible to every child, irrespective of geographical or socioeconomic circumstances.
I serve in a remote, predominantly Mising tribal community where many learners are first-generation students facing challenges related to poverty, language barriers, limited digital access, and geographical isolation. These realities have inspired me to develop learner-centred, experiential, multilingual, and technology-integrated teaching practices that connect classroom learning with students’ everyday lives and local knowledge.
My key innovations include activity-based Geography education, map drawing and reading, multilingual teaching using Assamese, English, Hindi, and Mising expressions, and the integration of digital resources into classroom instruction. I have contributed to digital educational content through DIKSHA and supported teachers through professional development, academic resource-person activities, and teacher-training programmes.
As a textbook author and developer, I have contributed to the preparation of Assam Government Social Science and Geography textbooks, helping make learning more relevant and accessible to students. I also promote digital literacy among parents through my initiative, “Each One Teach One,” in which students help their parents develop smartphone skills, use digital services, and understand digital banking. My community initiatives also include child-marriage awareness, environmental education, and activities that strengthen the relationship between schools and local communities.
Vision : My vision is to create an equitable, inclusive, technology-enabled, and culturally rooted education system in which every child—especially those from remote tribal and disadvantaged communities—has the confidence, skills, and opportunities to succeed. I aspire to transform rural schools into centres of innovation, digital learning, environmental awareness, and community empowerment.
Mission : My mission is to bridge educational and digital divides through innovative pedagogy, multilingual learning, experiential Geography education, and responsible use of technology. I aim to establish community-based Digital Learning Centres in nearby villages, strengthen parental digital literacy, empower teachers through training
and collaboration, and promote education that protects local languages, culture, and the environment. I am committed to developing scalable and sustainable educational models that can be replicated in other underserved communities across India.
