Mr. PRADEEP NEGI
LECTURER at GOVT INTER COLLEGE BHEL RANIPUR HARIDWAR
Uttarakhand (HARDWAR)
National Teacher Awardee (2022)
National ICT Awardee (2014)
Education has been the defining purpose of my life. My journey from a physically challenged child affected by polio to becoming a National Award-winning teacher has taught me that true success is not measured by personal achievements but by the positive impact we create in the lives of others. Despite living with a 76% locomotor disability, I never allowed my physical limitations to define my future. Instead, they became the source of my determination to make education inclusive, meaningful, and accessible to every child, especially those from disadvantaged communities.
For more than twenty-seven years, I have been serving as a Lecturer in Economics in the Government School Education Department of Uttarakhand. Throughout my career, I have worked with students belonging to economically weaker families, rural villages, and urban slums. Many of these children struggle with poverty, irregular attendance, and limited educational resources. Understanding their challenges has transformed my role beyond classroom teaching. I consider myself not only a teacher but also a mentor, counsellor, motivator, and lifelong learner committed to empowering students with knowledge, confidence, and values.
My teaching philosophy is founded on the belief that every child has unlimited potential when provided with the right opportunities, encouragement, and learning environment. I believe education should inspire curiosity, creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, and compassion rather than focusing only on examinations. Learning becomes meaningful when students connect classroom knowledge with real-life situations. Therefore, I emphasize activity-based, project-based, collaborative, and experiential learning that enables students to become active participants in their own education.
Technology has completely transformed my educational journey. As a physically disabled teacher, I initially faced several challenges in traditional classroom teaching. The introduction of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) opened new possibilities for creating interactive, engaging, and inclusive learning experiences. Since then, I have devoted myself to integrating digital technology into education by developing multimedia presentations, educational videos, online assessments, blogs, websites, digital textbooks, interactive quizzes, MOOCs, and self-learning resources. My goal has always been to ensure that quality learning reaches every student regardless of location, economic status, or physical ability.
Beyond classroom teaching, I actively contribute to educational innovation as a Resource Person, Mentor, Reviewer, and ICT Expert for organizations including NCERT, CIET, DIKSHA, SCERT Uttarakhand, and Gurushala. My work includes designing teacher training programmes, creating e-content, digitizing textbooks, integrating QR codes into learning resources, developing MOOCs, and supporting curriculum reforms.
