Mrs. Maram Pavithra
SA Bioscience at ZPHS Penpahad
Telangana (Suryapet)
National Teacher Awardee (2025)
I am Maram Pavithra, a School Assistant in Biological Science at ZPHS Penpahad, Penpahad Mandal, Suryapet District, Telangana. I began my teaching career in 2009 with a strong belief that education should transform children into confident, curious and responsible individuals. Over the years, I have worked to make Biology learning joyful, experiential and connected to real life.
My teaching philosophy is based on the 3Hs – Head, Heart and Hands. I engage the Head through scientific thinking and problem-solving, the Heart through empathy, environmental responsibility and curiosity, and the Hands through experiments, model making, projects and practical activities. I believe that science should not be limited to textbooks. Students should observe, question, experiment, discover and apply their knowledge to real-life situations.
To make Biology interesting, I use hands-on experiments, role plays, project-based learning, educational games, puzzles, models, field visits and ICT-based activities. I have designed and developed around 40 Biology card and board games covering concepts such as photosynthesis, nutrition, food chains, hormones, diseases and blood grouping. These activities encourage students to participate actively and help them develop creativity, communication, collaboration and critical thinking skills.
I have also integrated technology into classroom teaching through Interactive Flat Panels, DIKSHA, QR-linked resources, digital assessments, simulations and interactive games. I have contributed 99 video lessons and practice resources linked to textbook QR codes and developed 15 interactive OERs. My lessons and resources have also been telecast through TSAT and DD Yadagiri, extending learning opportunities beyond my classroom.
I strongly believe in inclusive education. When I identified foundational literacy difficulties among students, I introduced bilingual learning, peer support, reading practice and digital activities. These strategies helped students gain confidence in reading, writing and understanding Biology concepts. I also encourage students to learn from their surroundings by investigating local issues such as water pollution, agriculture, waste management and environmental conservation.
My students have participated in and achieved recognition through platforms such as INSPIRE Awards, National Children’s Science Congress, Agastya Jigyasa, Intinta Innovator and science fairs. I have guided students in developing practical solutions to real-life problems and encouraged them to become young innovators. Educational visits to places such as CCMB, ISRO and Krishi Vigyan Kendra have provided exposure to research, technology, agriculture and career opportunities.
My contribution extends beyond my classroom. I have served as a SRP for SCERT Telangana and as a NRG member for NISHTHA, supporting teachers in pedagogy, ICT, assessment, digi content and experiential learning. I regularly share in my strategies with others.
