Dr. Dr. Kavita Sanghvi
Director of Education at Kotak Education Foundation
Maharashtra (Mumbai)
National Teacher Awardee (2022)
Dr. Kavita Sanghvi is a nationally and globally recognised educator with over 22 years of experience spanning classroom teaching, school leadership, curriculum design, and teacher professional development. Currently serving as Director – Education at Kotak Education Foundation (KEF), she leads large-scale government partnerships that bring transformative learning to underserved communities across India.
Holding an M.Sc. in Nuclear Physics, a Harvard Advanced Programme in Educational Leadership, an M.Phil. in Education, and a Doctorate in STEM Education from the University of Mumbai—where her research demonstrated an effect size of 1.06—Dr. Sanghvi combines scientific rigour with deep pedagogical expertise.
Impact at Scale Through Government Partnerships
At KEF, she co-designs and delivers programs across government school ecosystems, including:
STEM Education for TRTI Teachers in pan Maharashtra
Vision: STEM for All, Especially Girls
Her inquiry-based 'Global Outlook' STEM curriculum, designed for Grades I–VII and successfully implemented at SVKM's CNM School from 2019 to 2025, earned strong recognition from students, parents, and the wider school community. Its impact inspired her to design 'Build Your STEM Competency' — a professional development course for educators available at stemforeducators.com — furthering her commitment to making STEM accessible and engaging, particularly for girls from underserved communities.
Philosophy & Framework
Dr. Sanghvi believes that quality education is not measured by what is taught, but by what is truly understood, experienced, and applied. Her philosophy rests on three interconnected pillars: enhancing quality education through evidence-based practice, making learning enjoyable and meaningful for every student, and scaling STEM learning so it reaches educators and learners far beyond the walls of a single classroom.
This philosophy is not abstract — it is institutionalised. She has developed a STEM Framework for Educators that provides a structured, replicable pathway for teachers to build their STEM competency, integrate inquiry-based approaches into daily practice, and create classrooms where curiosity drives learning. The framework bridges the gap between what STEM education should look like and what teachers are actually equipped to deliver — making it a practical tool for systemic change.
Her conviction is simple: when educators are empowered, students flourish. And when students — especially girls — see themselves as scientists, innovators, and problem-solvers, the trajectory of communities changes.
